Bridge Colloquia are a regular series of colloquia where faculty from one discipline talk to another discipline. An ME faculty member talks in Chemistry, a ECE faculty member talks in Biotechnology, etc.

Bridge Colloquia attempt to build bridges between disciplines by showing how one is related to the other.

We encourage less obvious mixtures. Someone from Computer Science might talk to Mechanical Engineering about databases or computer networks. Graph Theory in the Humanities; Biotechnology in Electrical Engineering, ...

These lectures will reinforce the bridge courses that link core courses in different disciplines, and will broaden the general knowledge of all who attend.

They will allow faculty to see potentials for interdisciplinary cooperation and research -- something WPI's size and environment should support -- and would introduce faculty to each other across the campus, making the campus more cohesive.

The Provost's office has agreed to supply refreshments for all Bridge Colloquia. Coordination of Colloquia will be by the Center for Educational Development (CED). Departments will do their own colloquium scheduling.
