AID'00 Prize

We are very pleased to announce that the Best Presentation Award at AID'00, the 6th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Design, was won by Janet Burge of Stow, MA, for her presentation of the paper " Reasoning With Design Rationale", by J. E. Burge & D. C. Brown.

The award was judged by a committee consisting of Dr. Alex Duffy (Univ. Strathclyde), Dr. Mary Lou Maher (Univ. Sydney), Dr. Rivka Oxman (Technion), and Dr. John Clarkson (Univ. Cambridge).

The research described by Janet in her presentation is concerned with the potential for novel use of computer representations of the reasons for design decisions (i.e., Design Rationale). She described inferences that could determine that poor design choices may have been made, or that inconsistent reasoning may have been used.

AID'00 was held at WPI during 26-29 June 2000, with workshops on advanced topics held prior to the conference on June 24th and 25th.
