Brown Awarded Joint Appointment

David C. Brown, professor of Computer Science, has been appointed professor of Mechanical Engineering under the newly established guidelines for faculty joint appointments. Brown will continue to work in Fuller Laboratories, but will assist in projects, theses, and other assignments through the Mechanical Engineering Department.

Brown was quoted in a recent article in Boston Software News that asked whether a college degree is necessary to pursuing a career in computer science. Brown said that "the details in a B.S. degree may last only five years," and added that a Computer Science department's responsibility to students is to reinforce concepts that will allow future growth and learning throughout their careers.
