Gift from Alumnus
We are very pleased to announce that we have received a gift in the amount of $2,500 from Mark J. Freitas - Class of 1978 - restricted to the Computer Science Department.
The department is very grateful for his generosity. This is not the first gift that the department has received from him.
Department Head, Micha Hofri, was heard wondering out loud whether we can get twenty more alumni to do this too?!
Mark Freitas received both Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science from WPI. He has over 19 years of experience in the data communications industry. His company, Altiga Networks was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2000. Prior to founding Altiga in 1998, he was Executive Vice President for the Central Site Business Unit of Microcom, Inc., which has since been acquired by Compaq Corporation. His executive experience there included marketing, product development, and corporate strategy. Previously he was involved with software development at Microcom and Motorola Codex. Mr. Freitas holds a number of patents in the communications field.
