New Department Head
The WPI Computer Science Department is very pleased to announce that after an extensive nationwide search Prof. Micha Hofri has agreed to become our new department head.
Micha Hofri, whose D.Sc. is from the Technion in Israel, has a world-wide reputation for his research into the Analysis of algorithms, Performance evaluation, Applied probability, and Operating Systems.
The department's previous head, Prof. Robert Kinicki, steps down after 10 years to take a well-earned sabbatical leave in industry.

We are pleased to announce that Professor Micha Hofri will join the WPI community in August as the new head of the Computer Science department. Professor Hofri received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and D.Sc. from the Technion in Haifa, Israel, where he served as a faculty member and administrator in CS until 1991. He has taught in the U.S. at Purdue, the University of Houston, and Rice University. His research interests include the structure of real-time systems and database operating policies; analysis of computational algorithms and of policies in operating systems; the use of visualization in analysis of algorithms and computations; performance evaluation; applied probability; and simulation and statistical computation. His most recent book is Analysis of Algorithms: Mathematical Models and Computational Tools (Oxford, 1995.) Please join us in welcoming Micha Hofri to WPI.
