Data Mining for Customer Modeling and DNA Microarrays(k)

Abstract

It was estimated that 5 million terabytes of new data was created in 2002 alone, with data growing at 30% a year rate. To make sense of this flood of data, we need the science and tools for data mining and knowledge discovery.

I present two interesting applications of data mining. First is the meta- analysis of quality of models for predicting consumer behavior, where we found a surprising formula for the average lift curve, with implies that customer behavior predictability may have a practical upper limit.

The second application is the analysis of DNA microarrays, including development of best practice templates for diagnosis and classification and research on comprehensive microarray testbed for objectively comparing existing algorithms.
