This proposal is concerned with knowledge-based generation of design expert systems. The goal is to build a system that will generate a parametric design system for an artifact with a given set of design requirements. Case-Based Reasoning, as a type of knowledge reuse paradigm, is the key method in the proposed approach. Previous design knowledge in the form of cases will be used in new design system construction. In this presentation, I will describe the problem and why it is a challenging one, and outline the approach and the methodology to be adopted to tackle it.
