Testing a very large database requires careful planning and management. The logistics of material handling alone requires substantial planning and coordination. In addition, identifying the appropriate engineering resources and committing them for extended periods of time increases the challenge. This presentation describes a project which was completed in the fall of 1996 by Digital Equipment Corporation's Enterprise Systems Engineering Group. The equipment was staged in Ayr, Scotland with engineering and management teams in Scotland and Salem, New Hampshire. The global nature of this project added to its complexity, but made it possible to complete the work in the short time required by the customer. This presentation discusses some of the challenges encountered along with solutions and suggestions.
