Being an Expert: Testifying in a Patent Infringement Case

Abstract
From 1997 until recently, I participated as an expert witness in a patent infringement suit between two computer manufacturers. I helped the attorneys understand the technical issues, learned a lot about the legal process, and testified in Federal court. In this talk, I will discuss my experiences, give an overview of what's involved in a patent infringement suit, and consider about how the legal system deals with complex technical matters. I'll even tell you what the judge had to say about my testimony!
