Abstract
Each professor will give a 15-minute presentation of their research area. All members of the WPI community are invited to attend.
Summary of research interests:
- Prof. Gennert:
- Computer vision, spatio-temporal databases,programming languages; computational vision, including stereo, motion, and fractal image modeling; image and multimedia databases, including temporal data modeling; category theory and abstraction theory.
- Prof. Heffernan:
- Artificial Intelligence, particularly intelligent tutoring systems, cognitive modeling, and dialog based systems; also data mining as it applies to intelligent tutoring systems.
- Prof. Claypool:
- Distributed systems, networking, multimedia and collaborative filtering; performance of Internet multimedia applications and recommender systems that use collaborative filtering; building software systems and evaluating their performance experimentally.
- Prof. Kinicki:
- Network management, computer system performance evaluation, computer networks; congestion control algorithms for TCP/IP, network management, and electronic commerce.
