Abstract
I began this research in 1993 by visiting the president of AT&T in Geneva,
Switzerland to discuss conducting an investigation of Swiss Science curricula in
the disciplines of Computer Science and Electronics Technology. During the past
ten years I have coordinated with several Swiss industrial corporations (ABB, AT
&T, MicroSwiss, Rockwell), HTL (Higher Technical Learning) Colleges, and
cantonal and federal agencies to investigate the Swiss dual-system.
This
system embodies concurrent and simultaneous college prafatory and apprenticeship
study towards an industry-led skill certification. This research has led to the
coordination of a pilot curriucula for US secondary and junior college students
with US corporations such as Microsoft and Novell. I have published partial
results of this work in an international engineering journal and have authored a
National Science Foundation Grant proposal to fund continued efforts.
I
continue to present to secondary school administrators, parental organizations,
and academic & industrial organizations interested in affording this
nation'syouth authentic educational opportunities.
