Inside ATI's Real-time 3D Graphics Demos

Abstract

Today's 3D graphics hardware is becoming increasingly more powerful. This talk will start with an overview of current ATI hardware architecture and the features used in creating the Radeon 9700 and 9800 demos. The majority of the talk will focus on breaking down a few of these demos in some detail and highlighting the more interesting shader techniques.

Biography

Mr. Gosselin is currently a Senior Software Engineer in the 3D Application Research Group at ATI Research, where he has been working on the launch demos for the past couple generations of ATI cards. In addition, to the demos he wrote the NormalMapper tool for generating bump/normal maps from high-resolution models. He has published articles in ShaderX and Game Programming Gems 3 and spoken at Meltdown 2003 and GDCE 2003. Previously, he worked at several companies including Oracle, Spacetec IMC, Xyplex, and MIT Lincoln Laboratory on varied projects from low level networking and web technologies to image processing and 3D input devices. Mr. Gosselin graduated with a MS in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
