Abstract:
Expert systems for design tasks usually involve multiple agents. Using Single Function Agents (SiFAs), that have one function, one point-of-view, and one target object to act upon, decomposes such systems into very little modules. Since these agents each contain very specialized knowledge, they require limited conflict resolution knowledge. This enables us to classify conflicts, investigate conflict resolution strategies, such as negotiation strategies, as well as patterns of communication between Single Function Agents.
