  • Proposal for Part II: At the beginning of class on October 25, 2007

  • Project Part I due: At the beginning of class on November 8, 2007
  • Project Part I Presentations: During class on November 8, 2007

  • Project Part II due: At the beginning of class on December 6, 2007
  • Project Part II Presentations: Due at 2:30 pm on Thursday December 6, 2007

Project Goal:

To design, implement, and apply a Constraint Satisfaction Problem (CSP) Solver. 


Project Assignment: (25% of course grade)

The project will consist of two parts:

  1. In Part I, you will implement a program that solves constraint satisfaction problems. 

  2. In Part II, you will apply that program to a particular domain of your choice.
Detailed descriptions of each part are included below.

Project Submission:

Both for Part I and for Part II, you should submit each of the following:
  1. Your Program (submit by email before the deadline):  

  2. A Written Report for Part I (submit a hardcopy before the deadline):
  3. A Written Report for Part II (submit a hardcopy before the deadline):
  4. Separate Presentation Slides for Part I and Part II (submit by email before each of the presentation deadlines).

In-Class Presentations: (10% of the Project grade)

Each student will have up to 5 minutes to discuss his/her Part I of the project in class on November 8th, and up to 10 minutes to discuss his/her Part II of the project in class on Dec. 6th & 13th.

Prepare slides for your presentations. Try to highlight the most important and novel parts of your work as the time limit per presentation will be enforced. The order in which the students will present will be selected at random. Your presentations will count for 10% of your project grade.
